It’s #SognoSunday! ‘Sogno’ means dream in Italian, and every Sunday I’m featuring a dream property in Italy along with a new Italian word! Right now, the average price of a detached home in the GTA is $1.2 million as of November 2020, so what I’m doing every Sunday is featuring an Italian property from EV.
Today’s Italian word is ‘buon anno’, used to say Happy New Year, which is perfect for the first #SognoSunday of 2021! Today, we have a beautiful Sicilian 6,200 square foot 24 room palace in Ragusa!
The building stands in the historic center, opposite the Cathedral of San Giovanni. On three levels, in an angular position overlooking two streets. Built in the early 1900s, in neoclassical style, it has two façades facing the street with typical elements of the style, pilasters, capitals, cornices, moldings, limestone corbels, finished by two balconies and six balconies divided on two levels. A harmonious entrance hall leads to a very elegant staircase with columns and an overhead decorated glass skylight.
The first floor of about 290 square meters consists of entrance, a large living room with dining room, study and kitchen overlooking a terrace, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, pantry, hallway and inter-storey storage room. Two staircases, one from the kitchen and one in the internal cloister, which gives further light to the rooms, connect the floor with four storage rooms, a technical room and a garage on the ground floor.
The apartment on the second floor is about 144 square meters, has an entrance hall, lounge, study, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, laundry, pantry and attic. The kitchen overlooks a small terrace that looks like the one on the lower floor overlooking the inside of the block.
The floors throughout the house are almost all in marble chips while the windows and doors are made of wood with frames and mirrors.
All of this could be part of your ‘buon anno’ for around $1.1 Million CAD!
